You can help build the network by hosting a sound-stream at your own home! it requires an internet and power connection in your house.

For example here is one installation:

The Microphone has to be mounted somewhere dry outside. In the following examples the microphone is  taped underneath some corrugated roofing. In the second example the microphone is to be mounted inside an improvised ‘shelter’ that can be hung from a tree.

The next issue is that the audio cable from the microphone has to be feed indoors to the little Raspberry pie computer. This means it needs something like a window left ajar or a gap under a door or a cable fed through a ventilation duct in your wall.
